Sorry I haven't posted recently have been really busy with looking for a new job :(

the shop I work in has closed down so now i'm looking for another full time job.

A friend of mine who goes to the same camera club as me asked if I fancied a trip to Santa Pod.

for those who don't know Santa Pod is a local drag strip. I've never been but have heard good things about it. The events change all the time and you get all different cars.

From basic cars that have been supped up in "run what you brung" to 300 MPH super drag racing cars in the main event.

I got to see some really nice cars. A few basic cars & some nice jet powered monsters.

Being very fast cars a very fast shutter speed is needed.

I used my sigma 70-300. My 70-300 is by far one of my softest lenses. I never realised how soft until I started using my Pentax 15-30 F2.8.

The changing weather conditions kept me on my toes all day.

Aperture between F4.5-F8

Shutter Speed 1/200th to 1/500th

ISO 100

This was a great day out. I recommend it to anyone even for non photographers. The roar of the engines, the smell of burnt rubber and the not knowing. Watching both cars on the starting line, watching them burn out or just sit on the starting line. listening to them redline and drop it into cog as soon as the green light appears.......and the inevitable......the inevitable.......engine pop.

My heart sank when i heard that. The loud clunk, the car sat stationary and the people get out or run over to push the car back to the pits.
